The Cardiff Film Festival, November 8–18 2006
A new sponsorship opportunity
An established public festival, the Cardiff Film Festival is re-launching in 2006 under the direction of a new and experienced team, with the ambition to deliver the premiere moving image event in Wales. The Festival will provide a high profile cultural and economic resource for Cardiff, engaging with a growing public audience, and will compete with the best of international public film festivals.
A significant new development for the re-launched festival is to attract corporate sponsorship to achieve rapid and sustainable growth. As such, this represents a unique opportunity for companies to create a high profile association with a major new cultural festival for Cardiff and to work in partnership with the new festival team to realise the ambitious development plans for the event in 2006 and beyond.
To launch the new festival, the opening night will be a black tie gala evening in support of Sefydliad – The Community Foundation in Wales.
With core funding and support confirmed from the Welsh Assembly Government, the Film Agency for Wales and Cardiff City Council, the opportunities for headline and strand sponsorship are now available as detailed in this proposal.
Background
While the Cardiff Film Festival was established seventeen years ago a new management team has taken over the delivery of the Festival in 2006. This new, experienced team is led by Huw Penallt Jones of Productive International and CE of De Lane Lea, Europe’s premiere post production facility, with Festival Director, Sarah Howells. 6271 and Cambrensis PR have been awarded the marketing and public relations contracts. Sponsorship negotiation is the responsibility of Simon Farley, who has a background of securing sponsorship for the London Film Festival and BAFTA.
The ambition of the new team is to deliver an immediate and significant growth in the scale and profile of the Festival, to attract a greater wealth of films, talent, industry involvement and public audience.
Retaining the support of many funding partners, there is now, for the first time, the potential to attract wider corporate support through sponsorship, with opportunities for headline and festival strand sponsorship.
